- Employer-specific work permit — normally tied to a named employer and job; an LMIA may be required depending on the case.
- Open work permit — available only where the applicant fits a specific eligible category.
- Express Entry — federal permanent-residence system for Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker and Federal Skilled Trades.
- Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) — provincial/territorial nomination routes, including Express Entry-linked streams.
